WHERE IN METRO MANILA: All Filipino and Filipino-Asian buffet at 'Cabalen'

After a worship service, where I invited some friends to listen, we headed to SM North EDSA. We had hard time to look for a good restaurant. We went to MANGAN RESTAURANT at the Annex, which serves Filipino food that celebrates the uniqueness of Kapampangan cuisine. It means "Let's eat." But there are so many customers who wanted to try their home cooked meals despite so we decided to go to CABALEN RESTAURANT.

For 28 years, the Cabalen chain of restaurants has been the standard for excellent Filipino cuisine. Combining the freshest ingredients and the most stringent quality control, Cabalen has kept its patrons coming back for more through the consistency in Taste and Quality of its dishes served in the buffet. Balikbayans and regular patrons say that dining at a Cabalen Restaurant will make you feel the aunthentic traditional home-cooked food the Kapampangan way that you have not experienced for a long time in a very reasonable priced buffet.

LIST: Affordable restaurants serving buffet for less than P500

Cabalen, which literally translates to a fellow Capampangan, is a group of casual - fine dining restaurants. Aside from its buffet line of restaurant, Cabalen has also other brands which includes Mangan, EBUN, SOI, and ODDY'S.

Cabalen family started in 1974 in San Fernando, Pampanga as a small Bahay Pasalubong Restaurant selling specialty food dishes, then grew into a restaurant called "Ituro Mo, Iluto Ko". In 1986, the first Cabalen Eat-all-you-Can, Eat-all-you-Want Restaurant was opened in West Avenue, Quezon City that ushered the expansion .to more outlets.

What's the best in their menu? The famous Kare-Kare complemented by their own Bagoong and Kapampangan favorites: Sizzling Sisig, Beringhe and Gatang Kuhol among others.

Don't forget to whip up your very own Halo-Halo in their halo-halo bar. Other sweet endings include the signature dessert Tibok-Tibok, Minatamis na Saguin and kid’s favorite chocolate fondue.

Similar to a familiar buffet restaurant, Kamay Kainan, they also offer lechon.
