WHERE IN METRO MANILA: All Filipino and Filipino-Asian buffet at 'Cabalen'

After a worship service, where I invited some friends to listen, we headed to SM North EDSA. We had hard time to look for a good restaurant. We went to MANGAN RESTAURANT at the Annex, which serves Filipino food that celebrates the uniqueness of Kapampangan cuisine. It means "Let's eat." But there are so many customers who wanted to try their home cooked meals despite so we decided to go to CABALEN RESTAURANT.

For 28 years, the Cabalen chain of restaurants has been the standard for excellent Filipino cuisine. Combining the freshest ingredients and the most stringent quality control, Cabalen has kept its patrons coming back for more through the consistency in Taste and Quality of its dishes served in the buffet. Balikbayans and regular patrons say that dining at a Cabalen Restaurant will make you feel the aunthentic traditional home-cooked food the Kapampangan way that you have not experienced for a long time in a very reasonable priced buffet.

LIST: Affordable restaurants serving buffet for less than P500

Cabalen, which literally translates to a fellow Capampangan, is a group of casual - fine dining restaurants. Aside from its buffet line of restaurant, Cabalen has also other brands which includes Mangan, EBUN, SOI, and ODDY'S.

Cabalen family started in 1974 in San Fernando, Pampanga as a small Bahay Pasalubong Restaurant selling specialty food dishes, then grew into a restaurant called "Ituro Mo, Iluto Ko". In 1986, the first Cabalen Eat-all-you-Can, Eat-all-you-Want Restaurant was opened in West Avenue, Quezon City that ushered the expansion .to more outlets.

What's the best in their menu? The famous Kare-Kare complemented by their own Bagoong and Kapampangan favorites: Sizzling Sisig, Beringhe and Gatang Kuhol among others.

Don't forget to whip up your very own Halo-Halo in their halo-halo bar. Other sweet endings include the signature dessert Tibok-Tibok, Minatamis na Saguin and kid’s favorite chocolate fondue.

Similar to a familiar buffet restaurant, Kamay Kainan, they also offer lechon.

WHERE IN METRO MANILA: Affordable buffet and a relaxing ambiance by the Marikina riverbanks at 'Renaissance Cafeteria'

When I accompanied my mom during the reunion with her high school batchmates, I got the chance to visit Marikina, the place where I was born. We visited the biggest outlet center, the Marikina Riverbanks Center, and I got the chance to see and touch the world's biggest shoes housed in Marikina Shoe Gallery.

I navigated the web to find restaurants near the mall and office complex. I suggested that we should try Renaissance Cafeteria, which is offering an affordable buffet at P150 (plus 10% service charge). It's too late for our lunch!

LIST: #WhereInPH Eat all you can | Affordable restaurants serving buffet for less than P500

Renaissance Cafeteria offers lunch and dinner eat all you can menu. Unlike other buffets in the same price range, they offer a wide variety of Filipino dishes.

It also has a function room at the second floor which can be used as venue for events and celebration of special occasions.

What I like most here is their desserts and salad - very fresh!

It's an ordinary Filipino menu and Filipino place but its ambiance is what makes this place different from the other restaurants in Marikina.

They set the trend in Metro Manila on the extensive use of decors in buffet set-ups and dining area.

Maja Salvador, Jericho Rosales, Paulo Avelino to star in a new soap "Bridges of Love"

Maja Salvador, Jericho Rosales and Paulo Avelino will have a new TV series with a working title of “Bridges of Love,” as reported by ABS-CBN News.

Just like “The Legal Wife,” and “Got To Believe,” the upcoming TV series will be produced by Star Creatives, the television unit of Star Cinema.

"Bridges" marks the second time Salvador and Rosales will co-star in a TV series after the massive success of "The Legal Wife," which concluded in June.

Avelino has replaced Xian Lim in the TV series.

"Because of this development, Xian will not pursue the teleserye 'Bridges of Love' with Maja Salvador and Jericho Rosales. The role of Carlos Antonio in the said series will now be played by Paulo Avelino," the Kapamilya network said in an official statement released on Saturday, January 10.

The role of Carlos Antonio was earlier set to be played by actor John Lloyd Cruz, who has since backed out from the television series.
