As the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) celebrates its 100th year anniversary on Sunday, July 27, the 100 millionth Filipino was born shortly after midnight in Manila.

A baby girl has officially pushed the population of the Philippines to 100 million, highlighting the challenge of providing for more people in the already-impoverished nation.

Baby Chonalyn was born at the Dr. Jose Fabella Hospital in Manila at 12:35 am.

The baby weighed 2.8 kilos and was born to one Dailin Cabigayan, 27, a resident of Manila's Sampaloc district.

Baby Chonalyn is one of 100 babies born in state hospitals all over the archipelago who received the symbolic designation of "100,000,000th baby".

The Commission on Population is today looking at the 100 babies, to be recognized in 100 communities, 19 cities and 81 provinces, who were born at 12:06 this morning or closest to that time,” Commission on Population (POPCOM) Executive Director Dr. Juan Antonio A. Perez III said. “They will be provided with support to give them a good start.
