Expect heavy traffic on Friday, May 9, along Quezon Avenue as Iglesia Ni Cristo is set to stage another evangelical mission.
In an advisory, the Quezon City government announced that Roces Avenue and Scout Chuatoco may be closed to vehicles starting at noon on that day to give way to the INC’s Aid to Humanity-Evangelical Mission.
The city government is finalizing its traffic re-routing scheme for the Lingap sa Mamamayan to be held at the Amoranto Sports Complex.
The traffic plan would be drafted by the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) in close coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, city police and barangay officials.
Mayor Herbert Bautista said the mission could clog up Roces and Quezon Avenues as well as other roads.
"The traffic scheme shall remain in effect for the duration of the INC event, which will also coincide with the eve of the 128th birth anniversary of INC's founder and first executive minister Felix Manalo."
The initial crowd estimate for the event is at least 50,000. - with report from Philippine Daily Inquirer
