Malaya Watson has been eliminated on 'American Idol'

Malaya Watson, the lone contestant with Filipino roots, has been eliminated on American Idol Season 13.

Watson sang Chaka Khan's "Through the Fire" during the April 9 (April 10 in Manila) episode as part of the Back to the 80’s theme where American Idol season 7 winner David Cook was their guest mentor.

Her performance was, according to the judges, missing its usual zing.

The 16-year-old Watson ended up in the bottom 2 together with CJ Harris on Thursday night. However, it was Watson who bowed out of the show after getting the lowest votes.

The tuba player from Southfield High School in Michigan was emotional when she sang "I Am Changing" by Jennifer Hudson, her final performance on American Idol.

Safe and moving on to the next round on American Idol are CJ Harris, Sam Woolf, Jena Asciutto, Alex Preston, Dexter Roberts, Jessica Meuse, and Caleb Johnson.
