Host-actress Kris Aquino confirmed that she has turned down a movie project with former Kapamilya star Derek Ramsay.
She passed on the project with regrets because she considered it “a worthwhile challenge” and thought “the script was superb”.
In an Instagram post, Aquino said she would have loved doing the indie movie titled "Maratabat (Dangal at Katarungan)" written by Arlyn dela Cruz but her busy schedule would not permit it.
“Over the weekend, @ramsayderek11 called me because he had spoken with Ms Arlyn, and he loved her pitch and wanted to connect us…”
Aquino, whose last movie was the Metro Manila Film Festival 2013 hit "My Little Bossings" with her son Bimby, said she is honored to be considered to do the project.
Aquino said she and her manager, fellow ABS-CBN host Boy Abunda, met with Arlyn Monday night.
“Unfortunately the movie’s production timing is immediate, and there’s no way to juggle my schedule to make shooting possible… I am extremely grateful to have been considered, and it would have been memorable to share the screen with Derek… Hopefully another opportunity will come. Best of luck to Maratabat!”
The "Kris TV" host hopes that she will get another chance to share the big screen with Ramsay someday.
Last year, Kris seriously considered an offer from director Jun Lana to star in his independent film “Barber’s Tales” (Kuwentong Barbero). She declined because “it required me to shave my head”. The role went to Eugene Domingo, who won Best Actress at the 26th Tokyo International Film Festival for her performance.
“Maratabat is a Maguindanaon or a Maranao term that means ‘family honor’ or ‘family pride’. It is the core of all family value systems in the Muslim-dominated provinces of Mindanao.”
