Set your watches to the Philippine Standard Time on January 1

Filipinos are urged to synchronize their watches with the official Philippine Standard Time (PhST) come New Year, in an effort to ensure all official time sources throughout the country display the same time. (Click this link to check the "right" time.)

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) also aims to change the concept of “Filipino Time”—a pejorative term for their habitual tardiness—through a campaign entitled “Juan Time: Pinoy Ako, On-time ako!”

The PhST will continue to follow the current time zone of GMT +8 hours.

The Philippine Standard Time Act of 2013 was signed by Aquino on May 15, 2013.
