Alex Gonzaga, Yen Santos, Arjo Atayde star in 'Pure Love' Pinoy remake

A local adaptation of the Korean TV series "Pure Love" is being developed by ABS-CBN.

The SBS series, which originally aired in South Korea as "49 Days" in May 2011, had its Philippine run the same year on ABS-CBN.

Next year, 2014, ABS-CBN will air the Philippine remake of '49 Days'

The adaptation will feature Arjo Atayde, Alex Gonzaga and Yam Concepcion.

Aside from the three artists, the series also stars Joseph Marco, Sunshine Cruz, Yen Santos and Matt Evans.

The 2011 South Korean television drama series features Lee Yo-won, Jo Hyun-jae, Jung Il-woo, Bae Soo-bin, Nam Gyu-ri and Seo Ji-hye.

Concepcion said she will portray an antagonist for the first time in ABS-CBN's "Pure Love."
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Marco revealed that they are now currently working on the Filipino adaptation of the Koren TV series.

I am currently doing ‘Pure Love’ with Alex Gonzaga na nasa bahay ni Kuya so hindi ko alam kung kailan lalabas.

49 Days explores interconnectedness of all things, such as fate, exorcism, and other spiritual topics. This TV series was inspired by the Buddhism "Bardo" that a soul usually wanders the earth for 49 days and then moves on to the next life, thus frequently referencing relevant Shamanism (once a majority religion of Korea) ideas such as reincarnation and karma.

'Pure Love' presents the heartbreaking stories of Dianne, a woman who seemed to have everything including love, beauty and wealth; and Ysabelle, a depressed woman who leads a 'lifeless' life. Their paths cross when Dianne meets a car accident caused by Ysabelle's suicide attempt. Ysabelle survives her suicide attempt but Dianne is left in a coma.

Dianne is given a second chance to live by a rather hunky "Scheduler" because she is not destined to die yet. In order for her to live again, she must gather three pure tears in 49 days—a task she thought would be extremely easy but turns out to be a challenge as she discovers the real intentions of her fiancé and best friend.

Ginny Ocampo's unit, the business unit behind 'Be Careful With My Heart' and 'Dugong Buhay', will create the Philippine remake of the hit Korean TV series.
