2013 Excellence in Visual Media - EVM Awards Winners


The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) has revealed the winners for the 2013 Excellence in Visual Media (EVM) Awards Sunday, October 27, at the University of the Philippines Theater, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.

The EVM Awards is part of the INCinema project of the Church. INCinema features short films produced by the different ecclesiastical districts in the Philippines and abroad. The INC media unit is also a part of the Countdown to the Centennial celebrations.

This year, ten district finalists competed for the different awards.

AGUSAN DEL NORTE - "Ang Katuparan ng Pangako"
MINDORO OCCIDENTAL - "Panahon ng Pag-aani"
NEGROS OCCIDENTAL - "Liwanag sa Bawat Pagsubok"
BENGUET - "Text"
BULACAN SOUTH - "Tinig ng Damdamin"
ILOILO SOUTH - "Ako Mismo"
QUEZON CITY - "Ang Pangako"
METRO MANILA SOUTH - "Pagkatapos ng Unos"
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - "Hanggang sa Dapithapon"
The short films were screened at INCTV from October 17-26.

The event was hosted by Viva artist Bro. Davey Langit who composed and sang the hit 'Selfie Song' (WATCH MUSIC VIDEO HERE).

Bro. Radel G. Cortez opened the awards night by narrating INCinema's brief history.

Present during the awards night were ABS-CBN anchor Bro. Anthony 'Ka Tunying' Taberna,  OutBox Media Production Agency managing director Sister Rossel Velasco-Taberna, Star Magic artist Sister Xyriel Manabat, and former 'Singing Bee' singer Sister Apple Chiu.

Best Actress - "Hanggang sa Dapithapon" (United Arab Emirates)

Best Child Performer - Rocynth Thea Mae Castillo "Liwanag sa Bawat Pagsubok" (Negors Occidental)
Best Supporting Actor -  "I'm Different" (Southern California)
Best Supporting Actress - Molly Khia "Liwanag sa Bawat Pagsubok" (Negors Occidental)
People's Choice Award - "Ang Pangako (Quezon City)
Best Cinematography - "I'm Different" (Southern California)
Best Musical Score - "Hanggang sa Dapithapon" (United Arab Emirates)
Best Screenplay - "I'm Different" (Southern California)
Best Themesong - Lanao

The United Arab Emirates' entry gained praises from the brethren.

Brethren from Southern California proved they are different.

Ian Cuizon: "Tayo lang pala ang nang-Ingles. DIFFERENT nga!"

'Liwanag sa Bawat Pagsubok' is the lone Philippine entry qualified for the Best Picture Top 3.

Cynthia Soqueno: "We shed tears during the shoot pa lang, even the camera men can't help but to wipe their tears,hahaha.... so how much more when you see the full movie? Watch out.....Goodluck manang Thea! This is your crap, we'll mold it."

The Best Child Performer Award was presented by Sister Xyriel Manabat.

Sister Apple Chiu presented the nominees and winner of the Best Supporting Actress.


Richard Gomez, Albert Martinez and Gabby Concepcion topbill INC movie "Ang Sugo (The Last Messenger)." Revilla is no longer part of an upcoming movie on the founding and legacy of the INC, as the lawmaker reportedly expressed concern that his inclusion in the pork barrel scandal might affect the project. Concepcion will replace Revilla in the said project.
