On the heels of the worldwide success of “Man of Steel,” director Zack Snyder is bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time—Batman and Superman—for the first time on the big screen.

The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

After announcing the plan to bring the two superheroes together, Snyder, who directed British actor Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, issued a statement via Warner Bros. saying the two would be fighting each other, and conceded this might surprise some.

"Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world."

British actor Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman for the feature, with Gal Cadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Ryan Fisher as Cyborg all expected to make an appearance.

The film is slated for release in summer 2015.

Snyder has revealed a black and white photo of Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight, alongside his new Batmobile, for the upcoming sequel to "Man of Steel."

Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014.
