From its humble beginnings in Manila, the Iglesia Ni Cristo has gained a nationwide, and even worldwide, following.

After 99 years, INC has remained alive.

In commemoration of their anniversary, we are sharing you the list of prominent members of the Church.

NEWS PERSONALITIES

Anthony 'Ka Tunying' Taberna is currently hosting Umagang Kay Ganda (where he gained popularity in the segment "Punto por Punto"). As a DZMM commentator, Taberna is one of the lead anchors for Dos Por Dos, a daily morning and late afternoon show, along with Gerry Baja. He is also the anchor of Iba-Balita and Mano Mano in Studio 23.

Taberna is a Mass Communication graduate of New Era University, a private educational institution in the Philippines, run by the INC.

He started his career as a part-time news writer at DZEC, operated by Eagle Broadcasting Corporation which is owned by the Church.

Taberna has been an INC member since birth.

Taberna admitted there have been candidates supported by the INC that he personally disliked. But he chose to respect the decision of the leadership. “Lagi at lagi nananaig sa akin, bakit pa ako nag-relihiyon kung hindi ko din rerespetuhin yung pasya ng namamahala ng Iglesia? Niloloko ko lang sarili ko kung kunyari sumusunod ako pero hindi naman,” he said in a Star interview.



Gus Jun Abelgas is currently the host of ABS-CBN's S.O.C.O. (Scene of the Crime Operatives). It is a Philippine reality television series that aims to find answers to serious crimes with the help of local police and forensic investigators.

ACTORS

Gladys Paras Reyes-Sommereux is best known for her role as "Clara," the antagonist to "Mara" (played by Judy Ann Santos) from the 90's ABS-CBN hit teleserye, Mara Clara.

Reyes is a known alumna of New Era University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications. She is the wife of Christopher Roxas (born Jean- Christopher Sommereux in 1978), her co-star in Mara Clara who is also a member of the Church.

Roxas converted to INC in 1996, to be with his then-girlfriend Reyes.

Snooky Serna started acting early in life via her 1970 landmark debut Wanted: Perfect Mother, where she immediately captured the hearts of Filipino audience as a cute, sweet and smart-talking four-year old. That same year she earned her first acting nomination from FAMAS Awards as Best Child Performer for the film My Little Angel.

She became a member of the Church since 2011.

Janice de Belen was a GMA Network contract artist. She returns back to ABS-CBN via Budoy.

She has a younger sister Gelli who is also an actress. At the age of nine, she became a newscaster for the RPN 9's Newswatch Junior Edition. She got her biggest break from the same channel when she got the lead role in the soap opera Flordeluna A Top Rating Phenomonal TV Soap that ran from 1980-1985 it was also remade by ABS-CBN in 2007 and used the concept from Loida Virina.



Xyriel Anne Bustamante Manabat began acting in 2009 after joining Star Circle Quest: Search for the Next Kiddie Idol, becoming Third Runner-Up in the talent competition. She appeared in several television programmes after that, but her breakthrough role was playing the young Agua and Bendita in the eponymous series. She later received the title role in the teleserye, Momay.

She starred alongside Coney Reyes as the demanding Anna Manalastas in 100 Days To Heaven. On December 26, 2010, Manabat won Best Child Actress of the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival for her role in the comedy film, Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na 'To!).

Kathryn Bernardo is best known for her role as Mara in the primetime Filipino drama, Mara Clara. Bernardo is currently a contract artist of Star Magic and ABS-CBN.

She also played the main protagonist Mikay in the primetime series Princess and I.

She was a former student of the OB Montessori Center Inc. in Greenhills and was homeschooled during her 4th year of high school at Angelicum College. She is now currently studying at Enderun Colleges taking up a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Marketing.

In interviews before her 18th birthday celebration, Bernardo said she had once invited his on-screen partner Daniel Padilla to attend an INC service. The two had also talked about the differences in teachings between INC and Padilla’s Catholic beliefs.

Bernardo also said she won’t force Padilla to convert to INC for her sake. But asked if she was willing to sacrifice love for religion, Bernardo said she holds God above all else – but isn’t willing to speak with finality on the issue.

Klaudia Koronel is a former Filipino actress, now a businesswoman.

She was one of the leading ladies in the TV sitcom Kiss Muna (2000-2001) with Joey de Leon, aired in GMA Network. She was included in the cast of ABS-CBN TV series Mga Anghel na Walang Langit (2005-2006).

Koronel was nominated for Gawad Urian Award as Best Supporting Actress for Live Show (2000).

She studied in New Era University where she finished Computer Science in 2005. After finishing her studies, she put up her own Internet business.

She married to Andy Zhang, a Chinese-American businessman, on August 28, 2009 in Iglesia ni Cristo Temple in Diliman, Quezon City.

Koronel now based in Arizona, USA with her husband. She established her business homecare facility in Gilbert, Arizona.

Jaclyn Jose is known for her memorable roles in the films, Salome, White Slavery, and Santa Juana.

Jose's work includes Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga through 2002 and Te Amo through 2004. Her series Zorro aired on GMA Network. She has acted in the soaps Babalik Kang Muli and Nagsimula sa Puso.

She is the mother of Andi Eigenmann, also an INC member.

Eigenmann started her showbiz career on the soap opera, Prinsesa ng Banyera on ABS-CBN, where she played the role of Sandy. In 2008, she was in the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus. She was the second house player to enter the house and was evicted on day 53. In 2009, she was one of the 12 finalists of the MYX VJ Search 2009.


Regine Angeles started her showbiz career after winning Be Bench / The Model Search of ABS-CBN. After being an exclusive talent of ABS-CBN, she became a freelancer and appeared in other television networks such as TV5.

Bugoy Cariño joined Star Circle Kid Quest, a television search for young talented kids, in 2009 and emerged as the winner.

After winning the child artist search, he became a regular cast of the award winning children gag show, Goin' Bulilit. Since then, he had appeared in several shows in ABS-CBN. In 2012, he starred as the main protagonist in E-Boy.

Ejay Lasap Falcon is the winner of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus.

Ejay's first acting stint after PBBTEP, around late 2008, was when he guested in an episode of That's My Doc with fellow housemate, Valerie Weigmann.

Finally in 2009, he played a major role as Gabby Arcanghel opposite Erich Gonzales in ABS-CBN's drama series entitled Katorse. This was followed by another show entitled Tanging Yaman where he was one of the main cast alongside his previous co-stars in Katorse, Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales. In 2010, he also played a major role as Xyriel Manabat's brother in the show entitled Momay. In the said show, he was paired with Queenie Padilla. In addition, he also appeared in a number of ABS-CBN's MMK and Wansapanataym episodes.

Currently, Ejay is the model/endorser of Bench, Converse, Lacoste, Afficcionado Perfumes and Fashion Exchange.

Yasmien Yuson Kurdi was one of the Final Four in the first season of StarStruck, a reality-based talent search show by GMA Network in the Philippines where she finished first runner up. She bagged the title of the Philippines' Pop Sweetheart and known for the roles of Mira in the hit fantasy series Encantadia, Salve Dizon de Leon in the remake of Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, Shayne Rodrigo in the hit remake Saan Darating Ang Umaga? a role originated by Maricel Soriano.

In 2013, she signed a 2-year contact in ABS-CBN and she will be part of the upcoming series Got to Believe of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.


She studied elementary in Jabriya Indian School, New Era University during high school and currently taking up Nursing at the same school.

Antonio Aquitania is one of the cast of the long-running Friday night gag show, Bubble Gang and several other GMA shows. Aquitania started out as a sexy actor and appeared almost always as a villain in films.He then switched to a more profitable sexy comedian image.

He also joined the cast of different shows like Kakambal ni Eliana (2013), Temptation of Wife (2012), I Heart You, Pare! (2011), Zorro (2009), Encantadia (2005), Mahiwagang Baul: Kung Bakit May Korona ang Bayabas (2005), Idol Ko si Kap (2001).

Aquitania hosted the 1996 show 'Oooops! With Wendell & Antonio'

Ruru Madrid rose to fame in Protégé: The Battle For The Big Artista Break.

He is currently seen on the GMA Network.

Madrid won Best New Male TV Personality for "Maynila: Faith in Love" in the PMPC Star Awards for TV and Outstanding Breakthrough Performance by an Actor for "Dormitoryo" in the 11th Golden Screen TV Awards.

He turned down a TV project because it is against his faith.

Jon Lucas joined ABS-CBN's Star Magic Circle 2013 when he was in first year high school. He is commonly known as playing Dominic Zaragosa on the television drama "Got to Believe."

His other projects were "Be Careful With My Heart," "Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon," and "Kahit Konting Pagtingin."

Jon Lucas shares that at first he only wanted to be a university basketball player but when he joined a pageant in 2010, his friends encouraged him to pursue a career as an actor. He is very lucky to have made it to the final list of Star Magic Circle Batch 2013 as he lined up along with five hundred other hopefuls in the talent management’s public audition last April 2012. The young man adds he can’t wait to work with his idols Coco Martin and John Lloyd Cruz and his ultimate crush Erich Gonzales.

SINGERS and SONGWRITERS

Champ Lui-Pio is a solo-artist and former guitarist and vocalist of the now-disbanded band Hale.

As a group, the band managed to spawn 4 mainstream albums and 18 mainstream singles, together with 2 jingles meant to promote Nescafé and Close-Up.

Lui-Pio established an independent local music label Mecca Music in early 2011. Somedaydream was the first to sign up to the label as mainstream contract artist.

He has a sibling named Christian Lui Pio or famously known as VJ Chino, who was featured in Hale's music video of their single Kahit Pa and winner of MYX VJ Search 2008.

Rico J. Puno hosted the noontime variety show Pilipinas Win na Win alongside Rey Valera, Marco Sison and Nonoy Zuniga for two months in 2010. He also hosted on Happy Yipee Yehey together with John Estrada, Randy Santiago, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang and Toni Gonzaga as one of the main host Replacing Pilipinas Win na Win.

He is now an excommunicated member of the INC.

Puno has been active in politics. In 1998, he was elected as the City Councilor of Makati City from its 1st district until his third and last term ended in 2007. He ran for a comeback in 2010 as the vice mayoralty candidate of Makati City, but was unsuccessful.

After the successful run of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 1, Davey Langit concentrated on honing his musical skills as a songwriter—authoring theme songs for movies and to just continually write songs for his personal fulfillment as an artist. His musical efforts did not go to waste when he signed a record deal with Viva Records. As soon as he became a Viva artist, work started to pour in. 

Since then, Davey has been commissioned to help out in the production of his new record label's album as an intrumentalist and song contributor. He has written songs for Princess Velasco and for the Love x 2 album and will probably create more songs for upcoming artists.

Victor Wood is a singer, actor and politician. His voice earned him various titles, including "Jukebox King" and "Plaka King"

He and his family migrated to the US in 70’s, where he co-owned four gasoline stations and was into real estate and landscaping. In addition, he managed the $1.5-million Palm Plaza Restaurant.

In 1972, Wood released 'In Despair'. He was a very popular singer of that era, and recorded many albums for Vicor Records. 'In Despair' is dominated by remakes of popular American songs from the 1950s and 1960s.

Apple Chiu was a finalist in the 2006 Philippine Idol and was a singing talent in ABS-CBN’s "The Singing Bee" before venturing into theater. She was cast for "Miss Saigon" Korea 6 years ago for the role of Gigi until the production decided to stick with an all-Korean cast.

Chiu, launched her self-titled debut record on 2009. The album boasts of ten tracks composed of OPM classic ballads and two original numbers. Apple's first single is "Sa Kanya"—a revival of Ogie Alcasid's old hit.

She is from Carmona Cavite.




LAWYERS

Ferdinand Sumague Topacio is a managing partner of the Topacio Law Office (founded 1961).

He was named after Philippine President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, who was elected for his first term President the day Topacio was born.

He graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Sebastian College-Cavite in 1987, and he enrolled in Ateneo Law School but he finished his Bachelor of Laws (Honorable Mention) at the University of the East in 1992.

He married Dinnah Cureg Aguila of Batangas and Isabela, on 14 July 1997. His wife is presently a Judge of the Regional Trial Court in Manila, Branch 42.

He began his career as speech writer in the Office of the Vice-President of the Republic.

Born into the Aglipayan Church, Topacio converted to the INC in 2002. His first reaction was amusement when he watched INC’s “Ang Tamang Daan,” a TV program.

“After a few months, I realized the INC program was making more sense, so I became curious about the teachings of Iglesia.”

Then he was invited to take part in the worship services.

“I remember it distinctly. I felt something. Umiyak ako eh. I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, so at that time, I decided this was the religion for me,” he said.

Serafin R. Cuevas is a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines appointed during the government of Ferdinand Marcos.

Before his appoinment as an Associate Justice to the Supreme Court of the Philippines on May 31, 1984, he was Associate Justice to the Intermediate Appellate Court.

In 2012, Justice Serafin R. Cuevas was the lead counsel of the defense panel against the impeachment of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Ariella Arida is the Miss Universe-Philippines 2013. Prior to her win at Binibining Pilipinas, she was a contender in Miss Philippines Earth 2012 representing Alaminos, Laguna.
