Hopes are high for a possible visit by Pope Francis in 2015.
Quoting Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi, the Catholic News Service (CNS) said the Pope will possibly stop by Sri Lanka if he visits the Philippines.

If the Papal visit pushes through, the Pontiff will be the third pope to visit the country after Pope Paul VI in 1970 and Blessed Pope John Paul II in 1981 and 1995.
Government officials, led by Vice President Jejomar Binay, earlier invited Pope Francis to come visit the Philippines.
