Philippines wins gold in FIBA Asia 3×3 Under-18 Championships

The Philippines clinched the first-ever FIBA Asia 3×3 Under 18 championship, ousting India, 21-19, in the gold medal round on Friday night in Bangkok, Thailand.


Composed of Ateneo High School’s Thirdy Ravena, Kobe Paras and Prince Rivero of La Salle-Greenhills and San Beda’s Arvin Tolentino and coached by La Salle-Greenhills head coach John Flores, the Nationals won a thrilling final against the surprise finalists Indians in this inaugural three-on-three basketball tournament participated in by 19 countries.

In the preliminaries, the Philippines topped Group B with a 3-1 record, losing to Qatar 14-17 but defeating Chinese Taipei (20-18), Syria (17-13) and Indonesia (20-13) to top Group B.
