Paulo Avelino to do another indie film for Bicolanos

After his first indie venture in the Cinemalaya film “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa” where he earned his first Urian Best Actor trophy, Paulo is off to his second film festival movie, “Debosyon” by Alvin Yapan.

The talented actor also admitted Debosyon is a different kind of acting challenge for him. “It’s actually an independent film. It’s in Bicol and it’s about the Penafrancia festival. The whole film’s language will be in Bicolano and will mostly be shot in Bicol. Yung plot niya talaga is about forbidden love,” he added.

Paulo had to deliver lines in Rinconada Bikol, a local language he barely knows.

His leading lady on the said indie film is Mara Lopez, daughter of former beauty queen Maria Isabel Lopez.

Mara will be playing the role of a mysterious lass named Salome and Paulo is Mando who will fall in love with the woman who helped her get out of the forest.
