Pampanga mayoralty bet's supporter arrested for alleged vote buying

Police on Friday, May 10, arrested a political supporter of mayoralty bet Apolinario Cruz in Candaba, Pampanga for alleged vote buying activity in Barangay Mangga in this town.

The police caught Cruz handing out white envelopes containing three P100 bills to voters in Barangay Mangga at 11 am on Friday, May 10.

The two bags he carried, printed with the word “Busog.” The bags had at least 44 envelopes, each found containing P300 pesos.

Superintendent Jhoanna Rosales, provincial operations chief, said Cruz denied knowing Reynaldo Capati Sagum, who registered the alias “Busog” in his certificate of candidacy.

Cruz said the bags were just passed on to him.
