Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj leave 'American Idol'

On Thursday, judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, who frequently feuded on the singing competition's just-completed season, both announced that they are leaving the show.

PMK-BNC, the celebrity publicity firm that manages Carey tweeted that the AI judge will push through with her world tour and will have to bid the talent show goodbye.

Minaj, who joined American Idol in the fall with Carey and Keith Urban, also took to Twitter to announce her departure, saying it is "time to focus on the music."

Fox and Idol's producers released a statement about the announcement: "Mariah Carey is a true global icon -- one of the most accomplished artists on the planet -- and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the 'American Idol' contestants this season. We know she will remain an inspiration to 'Idol' hopefuls for many seasons to come."

Fox and Idol producer FremantleMedia said in a statement that they wish Minaj the best.

With the departure of three (READ: Randy Jackson leaves 'American Idol') of its celebrity judges, the future of "American Idol" remains up in the air.
