Kim-Xian, Maja-Gerald call for Mali's release

Celebrities including popular love team Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, couple Gerald Anderson and Maja Salvador, and other ABS-CBN talents Sam Milby, Shaina Magdayao, Piolo Pascual, and Enrique Gil, have posed for mug shots while holding prison-like name cards stating that they want Mali to be freed.
The ads featuring the Kapamilya stars were conceptualized by the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Mali is an elephant at the Manila Zoo said to be suffering from a potentially fatal foot problem and profound loneliness has been confined there for 36 years.
A sanctuary has already agreed to accept the ailing elephant. The celebrity campaign will be launched in the June issue of StarStudio.
PETA recently tapped Hollywood actress Pamela Anderson to support its cause, with the “Baywatch” star asking President Benigno Aquino on a date so they can “talk more about how we can help Mali.”

Anderson’s request, however, was referred to Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala.
