Diether speaks up on 'rift' with Angelica, John Lloyd

Actor Diether Ocampo finally gave his side on reports that actor John Lloyd Cruz confronted him on the set of ABS-CBN's hit series "Apoy Sa Dagat."

"Whatever is happening on the set parte 'yan ng proseso para masiguro namin na maganda ang maipalabas namin. Whether it's difficult or madali, lahat 'yan kasama. Kung ano man ang naglabasan na hindi maganda I can assure you that nothing like that really happened. We are all professionals. Star Magic produced artists like myself and Angelica. Siguro you know the background ng Star Magic pagdating sa ganyan and we won't allow things like that to go out of control. We don't want to give mediocre performance for the audience. We owe it to the audience kaya nga kami nagta-trabaho it's really to make them feel 'yung para sa inyo, 'yung deserve niyo."

On reports that Cruz challenged him to a fist fight, Ocampo said: "Like I said walang ganoong nangyari but whatever their issue is hindi ako part noon. Maybe it's between him and her but as far as my work is concerned I have nothing to do with. Wala namang ire-reconcile to begin with. I believe lahat kami dito ay nagta-trabaho ng maayos and we deliver kung ano ang hinihingi sa amin. At the end of the day we still look at each and smile at each other. 'Yun ang importante. Nothing personal, trabaho lang. I don't see the equation bakit napasama 'yung isa (si John Lloyd) kasi hindi siya kasama siya sa show. But with Angelica, kasama ko siya sa show so definitely it's a constant adjustment dahil the role given to her is sobrang mahirap. Hats off to her dahil performance-wise sobrang na-justify niya 'yung role. Medyo beyond pa sa hiningi sa kanya ng direktor."

On other reports that Panganiban allegedly got mad at him because he is always late, Ocampo said: "Not in the position to answer that parang kumbaga if there are people who can really testify and say eh dapat sa kanila manggaling 'yon. I can always say na no, I'm not, hindi ba? Pero maniniwala ka ba? I can consider Angelica as one of my best friends in showbiz. Hindi lahat tinatawag ko ng 'bes.' Kapag ganoon mabigat yon. Si Angelica naggo-grow din ang tao, madami din siyang pinagdadaanan sa personal na buhay niya. I just want her to know that we are all here. I'm one of those many friends of yours who are willing to support you no matter what."

In a previous interview, Panganiban denied that Ocampo had intentions to hurt her when they were taping that tension-filled scene for their series.

“Nagkataon lang na may mga nagawa siyang bagay na siguro hindi meant para sa eksena. Hindi naman siguro kami magkakatrabaho pa hanggang ngayon kung intensyon niyang saktan ang babae.”

Cruz allegedly rushed to the set of television series "Apoy Sa Dagat" after Ocampo accidentally hurt Panganiban during a tension-filled scene.

According to Sucaldito, Ocampo was only supposed to throw a bag at Panganiban during a confrontation scene but he ended up also throwing a vase at the foot of the actress.

Panganiban, who plays a dual role of Rosanna del Sol and Rebecca del Sol in the teleserye, reportedly called Cruz to tell him about what happened. This allegedly prompted the 29-year-old "Tabing Ilog" actor to rush to the set.

Ocampo was reportedly surprised after Cruz threw harsh words at him and challenged him to a fist fight.

But Panganiban clarified that Cruz only went to their set to check up on her.

“Hindi naman naghamon. Wala namang ganun na nangyari. Nagpunta siya ng set para tingnan kung ano ang nangyari sa akin.”

Asked if she has already forgiven Ocampo, Panganiban said: “Wala namang away eh.”

The confrontation did not end in a brawl after the series' executive producer immediately intervened. Cruz then allegedly apologized to the crew members in the set, but it was not yet clear whether he patched things up with Ocampo.

Both camps of the two Kapamilya actors have yet to issue statements regarding the reported confrontation.

Ocampo plays Antonio Lamayre in the series, alongside actor Piolo Pascual who plays Ruben Manubat. dzMM
