Hotmail is dead, all accounts switch to Outlook.com

Outlook.com will fully replace Hotmail as Microsoft's webmail service.

“We’re excited to announce that we’ve completed upgrading all Hotmail customers to Outlook.com,” Microsoft’s Dick Craddock said in a blog post late Thursday.

People will still be able to send email to Hotmail.com addresses. When users login to check their messages, they will be greeted by the Outlook web interface from now on. This was a massive undertaking and the numbers involved are mind-boggling.

The transition began in February, when Microsoft began a test of moving users to the new Outlook.com services.

Outlook.com looks very clean and modern by design. Other great enhancements include being able to easily insert images from SkyDrive. With the ease of cloud storage being all the rage now it just makes sense. You can access you email and your photos from anywhere you have an Internet connection.
