Vice Ganda 'rape joke' about Jessica Soho

During his concert last May 17, Vice Ganda painted hypothetical scenarios of how several famous personalities would act if they were “boldstars”.

Kapuso journalist Jessica Soho breaks her silence on the issue by releasing an official statement

“Rape is not a joke and should never be material for a comedy concert. I thank all those who shared my hurt and expressed their support, but this should not be about me but about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime. The horrors they go through are unspeakable and should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke.”

Vice Ganda on Wednesday publicly apologized to broadcast journalist Jessica Soho on the noontime show "It's Showtime" over a sketch in his recent concert.

The actor-comedian said he called up Soho Wednesday morning but said Soho said she was not ready to talk.

I'm sorry but my mood isn't that great today)," Soho said, according to Vice.

When Vice asked if he could call again some other time, Soho reportedly replied, "I don't think so."

Vice Ganda said he is aware that his jokes have hurt many people and asked for forgiveness.

Jessica Soho has acknowledged the public apology of Vice Ganda.

"I acknowledge the public apology given by Vice Ganda, by way of his TV program, I sincerely hope and pray that this was done with the purest intentions and determination to put this issue behind us," Soho said in a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon.

Soho confirmed that she had a phone conversation with the comedian, saying the call "came without warning as his number was not programmed in my phone directory. I told him I wasn't feeling well and I wasn't sure I was ready to talk to him. But I clearly remember thanking him for his call."

Vice Ganda said he is now just grateful that broadcast journalist Jessica Soho already acknowledged his public apology.

Let’s all live a peaceful life.

Despite the criticism he has been receiving online, Vice Ganda said he is touched that a lot of netizens took to Twitter to express their support for him.

However, he promised to be more cautious with his actions from now on.

Vice Ganda and Jessica Soho are proud Ilocanos. They were both raised in La Union.

On Twitter, GMA reporters and other netizens also cried foul over Vice’s rape joke against the award-winning broadcaster.

On Tuesday, May 28, GMA news anchor Arnold Clavio lashed out against the ABS-CBN comedian on his daily morning radio show on DZBB with Lala Roque.

On her Facebook account, Charie Villa, ABS-CBN News and Online Business Regional Network Group, said:
"To Vice Ganda: You must know, the deal is, no matter how sharp one is, how educated, how senior in the hierarchy one is, how wealthy one is, no one has the right to strive to look witty, sharp or cool at the expense of another human being, at the expense of being disrespectful to another human being. Remember that."

"I know ABS-CBN Management will come up with a stand. This is just me speaking on my wall. I am overweight myself too. But that's beside the point. I hope we all learn from this mistake. And never to put down anyone," Villa added.

SHARE this: If she's complaining for having RAPE as a JOKE, GMA7's Bubble Gang (CLICK THIS TO WATCH VIDEO) has showed even more rape gags on National TV while Vice Ganda joked only a few on concert. Also, THE CONCERT WAS SETUP LIKE A COMEDY BAR po.

This is what GMA7 needs now: to RECOVER after losing the current Ratings Game, after 11 DAYS pa tlga bago mag-react? Matagal po ba natapos ang Management Meeting ng GMA7 and decided na magreact, which is a big help to pull their sinking network? Also, sa kay tagal na ng mga ganyang jokes ni Vice Ganda on air and sa mga concerts, ngayon pa tlga mag-React?

Obvious na po, IBA ANG KANILANG BALAK...
