Star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet are yet again resurrected in Carlo Carlei’s 2013 film version of the Shakespeare classic.
Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld (“True Gilt”) plays Juliet, while up and coming Douglas Booth plays Romeo. Other cast members are Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti as Friar Lawrence, Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis as Lord Capulet, and Ed Westwick (“Gossip Girl”) as Tybalt.

Academy Award winner Julian Fellowes (“Downton Abbey”) wrote the screenplay.

Compared to recent film versions — Baz Luhrmann’s modern “Romeo + Juliet” (1996) and Andrzej Bartkowiak’s action-packed “Romeo Must Die” (2000) — it can be said that the 2013 film is the most traditional.

'Romeo and Juliet' opens in UK theaters in July 2013. A worldwide release date has yet to be announced.
