Oyo Sotto reveals why Kristine Hermosa turned down 'Pangako Sa 'Yo' remake

Actor Oyo Sotto is a picture of contentment these days.

He was recently interviewed during the presscon for his new GMA-7 sitcom titled Vampire ang Daddy Ko. In this show, Oyo plays a vampire who happens to be the father of Vic Sotto's character. The real-life father-and-son tandem experienced a role reversal for this show, prompting Oyo to say that he finds it weird sometimes to refer to his father as his "anak."

During the said presscon, Oyo also revealed that his beauteous wife Kristine Hermosa was offered by ABS-CBN to again be a part of the phenomenal soap opera Pangako Sa 'Yo. The soap elevated Kristine and leading man Jericho Rosales to stardom. This endearing soap was shown in Malaysia in 2010, making the love team of Kristine and Echo a big hit among Malaysians.

In 2010, Kristine was previously seen in ABS-CBN's action-fantasy soap Noah where she played the role of a fairy named Eva.

When asked to confirm whether or not Kristine would be part of the Pangako Sa 'Yo remake, Oyo disclosed that he advised Kristine not to accept the project because she was offered a mother role.

Kahit hanggang ngayon sa Instagram yung mga Malaysians sinasabi, 'We love Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales.'”

Oyo further revealed that Kristine was being offered to work on a TV project in Malaysia with Echo.

Pero sa akin, siguradong dapat kasama kami [him and their two kids] and then, bigyan kami ng matitirahan doon.

When Oyo was asked if Kristine misses showbiz, he replied: “Na mi-miss niya rin. Marami kasing nagtu-tweet sa kanya na 'Kristine, come back to showbiz.' Mostly, talaga Malaysians talagang pumipilit, e.”

KRISTINE AS A MOTHER. The showbiz couple have two lovely children: five-year-old Kiel and one-year-old Ondrea.

Kiel, whom they have adopted, is in pre-school and Oyo describes him as very independent.

Oyo revealed that they have told Kiel that he is adopted upon the advice of a child psychologist.

He is all praises for his wife Kristine for being a hands on mother.

“Wala akong masabi.  Pag dating sa pagiging nanay, very hands on sa pagpapaligo sa bata. May time na medyo nawalan kami ng helper sa bahay so kami lahat gumagawa. Bilib na bilib ako sa kanya.

"Si Tin parang boy scout, laging handa."

As a father, Oyo said that he wants to raise his children to be God fearing. “Fear ko as a father hindi sila maging close kay God…Gusto kong iwan sa kanila yung Diyos na may takot sila.”

Oyo clarified that he is not angry that his father Vic is in a relationship with a much-younger woman: Pauleen Luna.
