Kagalang-galang Benigno S. Aquino III

Matagal rin po tayong binansagang “Sick Man of Asia.”

Solenn sizzles in uncut 'Seduction' trailer

French-Filipina model and TV personality Solenn Heussaff goes to great lengths to seduce the man she loves in the uncut trailer for the romance-drama film "Seduction".

The Regal Films project is directed by Peque Gallaga, who is behind the acclaimed films "Oro, Plata, Mata" (1982) and "Scorpio Nights" (1985).

In uncut trailer for "Seduction" released online Friday, Heussaff is seen as Sophia, whose life is saved from a hotel fire by Ram (Richard Gutierrez). As a way of seducing the fireman, Sophia hires him as her bodyguard.

Ram, however, is drawn to another woman, Trina (Sarah Lahbati). Described as "conservative" and "life-giving" by Gallaga, Sarah soon falls prey to Ram's seductive ways.

Caught between the two women, Ram is left to tackle the brewing conflict that pits "fire" (Sophia) against "rain" (Labhati).

In an earlier interview, Gallaga described the central theme of "seduction" as psychological, rather than physical.

"Their self is a form of seduction," the acclaimed director told the Philippine Star. "You have a man who loves two women. Gusto niya ito, gusto din niya ito."

"This is not the type of seduction which is trying hard. Their being or their personality is the seduction," he said.

"Seduction" opens in cinemas nationwide on January 30.

Enchong goes daring for Metro's 'body' issue

Weeks after he announced his aborted romance with actress Julia Montes, actor Enchong Dee’s most daring magazine cover yet was launched in local newsstands.
Dee, wearing nothing but a pair of striped swim trunks, is the cover boy of Metro’s January 2013 edition, which is also the magazine's much-awaited “The Body Issue.” Dee was photographed by Doc Marlon Pecjo with the shores of Dahican Beach in Davao Oriental in the background.

The actor, who first earned recognition as a competitive swimmer, was groomed by Peps Silvestre.

“Enchong Dee at his hottest and most daring headlines Metro’s 2013 Body Issue! Shot on the lovely shores of Dahican Beach, Mati City, Davao Oriental, the Kapamilya heartthrob shows off a bolder and sexier side of him that no one has seen before,” Metro said on its Facebook page on Thursday.

Also featured in Metro’s January 2013 issue are young stars Joseph Marco, Jessy Mendiola, David Chua and Megan Young, as well as models Sam Adjani, Miko Raval, Mark Lopez and June Macasaet, and entrepreneur Cristalle Belo.

Here, they also “bare not just their bodies, but their true personalities,” Metro said.

In a live interview on “The Buzz” last December 23, Dee said he and Montes became more than friends and were just waiting for the actress to turn 18 before going public about their relationship.

The “Ina, Kapatid, Anak” star, however, said he is sad that the blossoming romance did not end well.

“It’s because of the time. ‘Yung last part ng 2012, ibang klaseng hectic ng schedule,” Dee said in the television interview.

Kapuso It Girls topbill GMA Films’ MMFF Entry ‘Sosy Problems’

On December 25, the country’s hottest “it” girls Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King and Rhian Ramos come together for Sosy Problems, the glossiest entry of GMA Films to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Four girls, rich and famous, may have the most expensive pairs of shoes, high-end designer bags and the life that every girl wanted – but behind the glitz and glamour are the struggles and differences that they have to face.

In the story, Sosy girls’ tambayan, The Polo Club, is in danger of being torn down. The new owners of the exclusive club want to build a “yaya mall” – which for the girls is not at all a Sosy plan.

Meet the Sosy girls.

The spoiled-rich daughter of a hotelier and self-appointed leader of the Sosy group, Lizzie (Rhian Ramos), proposes a planking protest to stop the bulldozers from rolling. But she gets in trouble and as a way to get back to the good graces of their family’s matriarch; she has to do one thing – to live with her poor relatives. Having the luxuries and comfortable life that she has, will she be able to survive the living conditions in the province?

Then there’s Danielle (Bianca King), the daughter of an ex-politician who’s in the process of impeachment wherein all their assets were frozen. She is still in denial that they now are not part of Manila’s richest. Until when will she be able to cover up their financial struggle? What if she meets the guy who will love her for who she is, will she be courageous enough to accept her real status or will she stick to her plan of looking for a rich guy who can save them from financial difficulties?

Completing the Sosy Girls are frenemies Margaux (Solenn Heussaff) and Claudia (Heart Evangelista), daughters of former beauty queens who have had a long standing unfriendly competition. What if they found out that each of them is running after the same man, Benjo (Aljur Abrenica), an all-around employee at the Polo Club? Will their friendship end just because of a guy? Will someone be brave enough to give up love for the friendship?

Can our Sosy girls patch over their differences to save their friendship and the much-loved tambayan? Will they ever realize that their friends, family and loved-ones are more important than the riches and luxuries in the world?

Adding glamour to the movie are Kapuso hunks Aljur Abrenica as Benjo, Mikael Daez as Santi, Alden Richards as Iñigo, classy character actress Cherie Gil as Martina, Mylene Dizon as Bernice, Mikey Bustos as Denmark, Tim Yap as Jamie Yap, Agot Isidro as Glory, Maritoni Fernandez as Dada, Johnny Revilla as Gabriel, Ricky Davao as Sebastian, Nova Villa as Lola Patria, Barbie Forteza as Becca, Kristoffer Martin as Israel with the special participation of Ruffa Gutierrez as Luca.

The geniuses behind the fabulous creations and designer pieces that the girls are wearing are Preview Fashion Editor Daryl Chang and stylist Andrei Chang. As the Sosy girls put it, “They are not just fashion editors. They’re artists who can translate the emotions and personalities into the clothes.”

Under the helm of Director Andoy Ranay and with Marlon Rivera as the script consultant, Sosy Problems is the official entry of GMA Films to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2012.

Miss Universe 2012: Kosovo wins Miss Photogenic Award

Diana Avdiu of Kosovo was chosen by the Miss Universe Organization as this year’s Miss Photogenic.
The Miss Photogenic Award has no bearing in the judges’ scoring system in selecting the semifinalists. However, it may signify that the 19-year-old Avdiu is under the radar and there’s a high possibility that she will make it in the Top 16.

Other photogenic contestants, in my opinion, are Mexico, South Africa, Georgia, Puerto Rico and Croatia.

Miss China slips and Miss Guyana falls – Miss Universe 2012 Prelims

During the preliminary evening gown competition of Miss Universe 2012 which was held on Friday at the Planet Hollywood Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, both Miss China and Miss Guyana had the not so perfect walk at the runway.

It’s almost inevitable that someone will slip or fall during the evening gown presentation in Miss Universe. It’s quite understandable because these ladies had to walk the runway in high heels and wearing heavy long gowns not to mention the pressure of presenting their best on the ramp.

This year, Miss China had a double slip while Miss Guyana experienced the unfortunate fall. But of course, the best part was they continued their walk afterwards.

Watch the video below featuring Miss China and Miss Guyana courtesy of TheSpotForSports on YouTube:
