TEN Moves! The Entire Nation Moves

Letter of DepEd Secretary to 2012 college grads

WHAT IS TEN MOVES

TEN Moves! is a campaign to raise enough resources to build 10,000 classrooms in public schools all over the Philippines. Its main strategy is to get 2 million people to donate P10 per day for 10 months. That will be P300 per month or P3,000 for the entire 10 months. Because of the huge target and the massive mobilization that this will entail, this public fundraising campaign requires mobilizing a large number of organizations and people around the country. It is expected to be supported widely by Filipinos and even non-Filipinos working together to address an urgent problem of the country. Thus, the name TEN Moves! also means “The Entire Nation Moves!

Filipinos based overseas are invited to participate as well by donating US$10 per month, or $100 for the entire 10 months. Partnerships with the US-based Philippine Development Foundation (PhilDev) and similar organizations around the world are being established for purposes of reaching out to the Filipino diaspora.

Per DSWD Authority No. 2011-21, valid from September 7, 2011 to September 8, 2012

The proponents of Bayanihang Pampaaralan and TEN Moves! want to ensure that schools with the greatest and most urgent need are given priority. Thus, the resources that will be raised will be used to build classrooms in areas identified as priority by DepEd.

Priority Divisions:
1. Luzon – all divisions within the province including the cities geographically located in the areas of: Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Camarines Norte
2. Visayas – all divisions within the province including the cities geographically located in these areas: Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Bohol, Samar
3. Mindanao – all divisions within the province including the cities geographically located in these areas: Sarangani, Basilan, North Cotabato, Tawi Tawi, Sultan Kudarat, Zamboanga Sibugay

The Philippine public schools lack 66,800 classrooms. While the government’s budget for the building of classrooms has increased in 2011 and is being increased again in 2012, the resources are still not enough to fully address the problem. The private sector, through the 57-75 Education Reform Movement, is responding to government’s call for support through a campaign called “Bayanihang Pampaaralan“. BP aims to solicit corporate donations, seek grants from donor agencies, and tap individual donors to raise the resources required to build 10,000 classrooms in two years.

Through TEN Moves!, Bayanihang Pampaaralan appeals to the Filipinos’ sense of citizenship and hopes to give everyone a concrete opportunity to respond to the education crisis and take part in nation-building.

P10 per day for 10 months will be P300 a month or P3,000 for the entire ten months. Donations of more than P3,000 will be encouraged but donations of smaller amounts will also be accepted. Overseas donors may donate an average of $10 per month or $100 for the entire 10 months.
This campaign needs the participation of everyone. So aside from donating, you can also help by spreading the word around and by convincing people within your circles of influence to also donate and help solicit among their contacts. People may also help spread the word by using their social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc.
If you are a company official or even just an ordinary employee, you can help by convincing your employer to participate in TEN Moves! by making a corporate donation or asking employees to give through salary deduction, or both. If you belong to an organization, you can convince your officers and fellow members to also support the campaign.
to ensure that they are coursed through the proper channels and are used for intended purposes. The mechanics on how this will be done will be circulated to the public when these are already in place.
