An entry in this year's Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition, "Bwakaw" is topbilled by veteran actor Eddie Garcia and directed by Jun Robles Lana.

The film, which was shown at the recently concluded Toronto International Film Festival along with Brillante Mendoza's "Thy Womb", will also be screened at the New York Film Festival in October.

Star Cinema, the movie arm of ABS-CBN, distributed the acclaimed independent film for commercial release early this month.

Rated "A" by the Cinema Evalution Board, “Bwakaw” is a drama-comedy about growing old alone. It shares the life of Rene (played by Garcia), a 75-year-old man whose life suddenly turns around when a stray dog named “Bwakaw” teaches him a lesson about life.
